Nachdem Ende Oktober im beliebten Urlaubsort Tulum zwei Touristinnen erschossen wurden, kam es nun im rund 130 Kilometer entfernten Cancún erneut zu einer tödlichen Schießerei zwischen rivalisierenden Drogenkartellen. Das Auswärtige Amt rät Reisenden zu besonderer Vorsicht.
Wie lange Tulum?
Wir empfehlen dir, ungefähr 1,5 Stunden dafür einzuplanen. Unten am Strand kannst du schwimmen gehen – Badekleidung also nicht vergessen, falls du das möchtest. Was du wissen solltest: Durch die Nähe der Ruinen zu Tulum einerseits, vor allem aber auch zu Playa del Carmen, sind sie ein Touristenmagnet schlechthin.

Die Lebenshaltungskosten in Mexiko sind verglichen mit Europa recht niedrig. In Mexiko City können Sie sich mit etwa 700 bis 1.000 Euro monatlich gut über Wasser halten. Noch preisgünstiger leben Sie auf dem Land. Insbesondere Lebensmittel sind hier äußerst günstig.

Touristen, die dennoch Acapulco besuchen möchten, müssen daher besonders umsichtig sein. Sie sollten sich nur in sicheren Stadtteilen aufhalten, keinen Schmuck und andere Wertsachen mit sich tragen, ihre Dokumente im Hotelsafe aufbewahren und nur lizenzierte Taxis benutzen.

What is the healthcare in Tulum like?
The healthcare in Tulum, as in much of urban Mexico, is surprisingly good. It is however somewhat limited, being spread across a selection of clinics and one, small hospital. The Hospital de Tulum is the main hospital in town. It has a 24-hour emergency room along with an operating theatre and beds for overnight stays.

Tulum Pueblo is also where you’ll find the best value accommodations. Boasting a wide variety of styles and options, the Pueblo neighbourhood is the ideal destination for travellers on a budget. You’ll be within walking or biking distance from great restaurants, cafes and bars too. Pueblo is the town centre and attracts loads of tourists.
